Amanda and Josh - August 15, 2009 - Jonathan Edward Winery

(to see closer detail, click on the collage above)
What a great wedding! Amanda and Josh had a beautiful day even though there were a couple of very quick passing showers that we didn't anticipate. Amanda chose colors in varying shades of pink, orange and copper and she had so many great details - from the tissue paper flowers used as napkin rings to the pink and orange fans guests used to cool off for the ceremony. One of my very favorite details though were the great personalized recipe booklets the couple put together as favors. I love how they spent the time to put this amazing collection together and I cannot wait to try some of these delicious recipes.
The amazing food served was supplied by A Thyme to Cook - cannot wait to work with them again. While entertainment was the 8-piece band of Cover to Cover. They sounded great!
As Amanda and Josh continue their residencies at their respective hospitals, I wish them all the best. Have a great time on your Hawaiian honeymoon!

Brandy and Shane's Wedding - July 25, 2009

(to see closer detail, click on the collage above)
I first met Brandy, her mother Nancy and MOH Maria way back in the very early stages of planning. We all talked about different ideas of what would make the perfect wedding, vendors needed, budgets, yadda, yadda. Just like any meeting it was all very standard. And then Brandy took out her binder and showed me her color scheme. That's when the meeting took a twist. Now, I love color and I love how my brides work with color, but never, in the years I've been doing wedding planning did a color scheme ever speak to me. Brandy chose red, orange, lime green and tan. At first I thought 'wow that's a lot to work with'. And then I thought of the possibilities of working with a completely blank slate that we had at Wickham Park. There was one other must that the wedding should incorporate - butterflies! Brandy explained to me that shortly after her father passed away a psychic told her that every time she saw a butterfly her father was near. Brandy asked me to help her with several projects which included the centerpieces, menus and table numbers. I had such a blast doing these, especially the centerpieces! I wanted to incorporate all the colors so I headed over to Joann Fabrics, found scrapbook paper to match the lime green and great black cutout paper to wrap around the green. Brandy wanted manzanita branches which we attached water tubes with gold wire to to hold sprigs of green hydrangea. The paper wrapped around the vases and we added an accent of orange satin ribbon with a little bling to hide the seal. In addition to the hydrangea we added orange butterflies and hanging crystal detail to bring it all together - Perfection!!! The table was dressed with an orange crinkle table linen and tan napkin held the menu cards. The space looked amazing. Shortly after the entire space was ready to receive guests, Caryn, my assistant looked over at the side of the tent and flittering in between tables was a Monarch butterfly - it could not have been more perfect.

So, Brandy and Shane's wedding took place on a gorgeous day in July overlooking the city of Hartford. Guests dined on food prepared by Log Cabin Catering out of Holyoke, MA and then danced the night away. I had so much fun working on this wedding not only because of all the great elements but because Brandy, Nancy and Maria always kept me entertained. What a great group of women! Love you ladies. Oh and you too Shane!

Andrea and Jason's Wedding - June 13, 2009 Mystic, CT

(Photos in collage courtesy of Annandale Photography. For a closer look, click on collage)
I had the pleasure of working with a great couple this past year. From that first meeting over the phone, I knew Andrea was going to be a fun bride. She had this distinct vision in her head - enchanted Midsummer's Night Dream. We incorporated natural elements throughout the wedding from the gorgeous, dramatic ceremony arch created by Sharon Elizabeth's Floral Design to the moss covered table that held the escort cards. The flower girls in their tulle flowing dresses with wings looked like little pixey fairies.
Jason, the groom, had one simple request - that there be a gargoyle present at the ceremony to watch and protect as they enter into marriage. During the ceremony Peter, Jason's brother was asked to read one of Jason's favorite songs - "Sweet Child of Mine" (Guns and Roses). After the first verse the entire bridal party including guests broke out into song - Priceless!
I'm so glad I've gotten to know Andrea and Jason. I wish them all the happiness in the world!

Marc and Andrea - August 7th - Look Park, Northampton, MA

I'm going to preface this post in saying that I found my new favorite place to hold a wedding. The Garden House at Look Park and Look Park is absolutely beautiful. The park itself is just one of those places that would be prefect for a family day out with the kids - picnic (gotta get a permit as it states all over the park), petting zoo, bumper boats, paddle boats, dog walking, etc. The Garden House is a nice pleasant surprise. The venue seats about 175 comfortably and the decor is done in the Craftsman style - gorgeous!

So Andrea and Marc contacted me for the first time the beginning of July. After a meeting in Northampton, she and Marc booked me for their August wedding. In addition to my coordination services she also requested that I design her table numbers, finish her favors and organize her seating chart, which I happily agreed to. The day could not have been more beautiful - perfect climate, a slight breeze - glorious! Joe Mick of AEP Disc Jockey Professionals provided the entertainment and keep the dance floor busy throughout the night. Dani Fine and her team took some amazing photos (none of which are here). I'm so glad I finally had a chance to work with her. Flowers were provided by Marie Fowler of Little Pond Flowers. Catering the wedding was Alan Harris of Noble Feast - loved that risotto! Everything came together beautifully. I could not be happier for them and I'm so honored I got to know them and their amazing families. Best of luck to Andrea and Marc. Enjoy your Hawaiian honeymoon.

Oh and as a side note, I was pleasantly surprised to meet up with a former bride, Leigh at the wedding. Kendall was the coordinator for her wedding so I never did get a chance to meet her until Friday. It was great meeting you Leigh! (you can see yourself in the right corner of the photo of Andrea and Marc dancing)

Here are some photos I took throughout the night:

Loved the cute scarves!

Jessica and Shane - Mystic Seaport - Aug. 1st, 2009

Jessica and Shane were married at the Greenmanville Church at Mystic Seaport. The weather could not have been more perfect despite the horrible weather leading up to their day. After the ceremony guests gathered at The River Room at Seaman's Inne also on the same property of Mystic Seaport. Bill Mazzucco of Local Motion DJ provided the entertainment and kept the dance floor packed all night. Photographer was Chris Volpe and even though I haven't seen any of his photos yet I'm certain they will be beautiful. Jessica and her mother and sister assembled all the table arrangements, bouts and bouquets and kept a understated nautical theme that carried throughout the escort cards, programs and table numbers. Here are some of the photos I took throughout the night.

Black, White and Red

Here is an inspriation board I designed for one of my couples getting married next October. Love how that red pops on the black background.
