Beth & Nick - 5/25/08 - Wickham Park

Beth and Nick were married in the English Garden of Wickham Park in Manchester. The weather was perfect for their garden ceremony where music from bagpiper, Pat Whelan, played traditional Irish and Scottish songs throughout various parts of their ceremony. The reception was held at Wickham Park's Cabin and tent which overlooked a spectacular view of the city of Hartford. The dining tent was decorated in white with a punch of lime green - perfect for the setting. Escort cards were displayed in a bed of grass and table centerpieces were done in white callas and "lime" green. After dining on a delicious spread by Bay Leaf Gourmet which included the bride's favorite, Mashed Potato martini bar, guests convened in the cabin for dancing and dessert. Their "cake" consisted of cupcakes done in pink, chocolate and light green and were a big hit with their guests. Younger guests (as well as older guests) found delight in a playful candy buffet featuring a mixture of vintage and modern candies.

Here are some additional photos of their day.

Ashley and Steve - 5/24 - The Riverhouse

Ashley and Steve were married at St. John's Catholic Church in Old Saybrook. The wedding was attended by over 200 of their closest friends and family including fellow Marine colleagues of Steve who, outside the church, formed a sword arch, befitting for the Memorial Day weekend.

The Reception, held at The Riverhouse in Haddam, was decorated in navys and golds but softened by tall centerpieces of light blue hydrangeas and yellow sunflowers on each guest table. Guest favors consisted of paperweight compasses that also served as escort cards. The couples love of boating brought on a nautical theme that was carried throughout the space in small details - nautical rope around each votive candle, GOBO compass projected on the dancefloor and even the candy buffet was displayed with colors of the ocean.

Here are some additional photos of their showstopping wedding.

A Night for Hope

In June of 2007, Virginia MacLean lost her battle with multiple myeloma at the age of 44. Virginia was the aunt of one of my former 2007 brides - Kerry MacLean. She lives on through her friends and family, especially her 3 year old daughter, Paige. Debilitating and painful, myeloma and bone cancer are two of the fastest growing diseases in the world with over one million patients in the United States alone. After her diagnosis, Virginia dedicated herself to myeloma and bone cancer research. She teamed up with the creators of “Pete’s Wicked Ale” to develop “Reunion Beer: A Beer for Hope”. 100% of the proceeds for Reunion Beer sales go to eradicating these terrible diseases. To learn more about Virginia’s Story and Reunion ’08 please visit: www.reunionbeer.com

On Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Murphy & Scarletti’s Restaurant in Farmington the MacLean family and Virginia's friends will hold a fundraiser starting at 5 p.m. Tickets for the night are $25.00 per person. If you can’t make it but would still like to donate or would like tickets to sell…please let me know. I will pass on your name and information to the MacLean family. 100% of proceeds raised through this event will be donated to the Institute of Myeloma and Bone Cancer Research. www.imbcr.org.

The family is also looking for corporate and personal sponsorships of $250 and up…sponsors will receive special recognition. Remember, 100% of your donation will be donated to help find a cure!

Kids and Mud...

...like moths to a flame. My husband thought it would be a good idea to get ready for the retaining wall he plans to build by excavating the hill that was created when our barn was built this past year. I believe my words to him were "it's going to create a mudslide" after any rain shower we experience. Well, the kids found the mud today and were having a great time splashing and making an all out mess of their clothes. They're only young once, right? My son thinks there are fish in this puddle. I love their innocence.
